The Bachelorette Recap: Night One
The Bachelorette is here! Move over Game of Thrones, there’s a new show comin’ your way. (Just kidding, Daenarys rules.) But seriously, The Bachelorette has graced our screens once again and I couldn’t be happier. Pour yourself a tall glass of red wine, because Chris Harrison (aka Daddy Chris) is back with the ~most dramatic season of The Bachelorette~ and I’m sitting here in my PJs, recapping all of it. Gonna try to do a recap for EVERY episode this season! Let’s do this.
First things first, I am SO happy that Hannah Brown is the Bachelorette. With her fierceness (THE BEAST!!!), her faith, and her desire to find a husband that will treat her right is honestly…relatable. As Chris Harrison once said, she might be the “most relatable person we’ve had on this show.” I am truly excited to see her thrive as the Bachelorette and hope she finds love.
Now…let’s get into the REAL, juicy stuff!
My Top 6 Guys:
- Peter the Pilot (this is what I’m calling him from now on)
- Cam, 30 — Austin, TX
- Garrett, 27 — Birmingham, AL
- Mike, 31 — San Antonio, TX
- Jed, 25 — Nashville, TN
- Luke S., 29 — Washington D.C.
I really want to include and give a special shout-out to Matt Donald, Chasen, and Brian who got sent home — you will be sorely missed. Hope to see you in Paradise!
Noteworthy Men to keep your eye on…
Honestly, there’s not a lot of men on this season that are “stand out” men. I just don’t have enough thoughts on ALL 30 men. Soooo, there were a few noteworthy and stand out men last night. Here are the highlights:
Matt Donald: rode in a tractor, love him. I know he didn’t make the cut…but can he PLEASE ride in on a tractor on Paradise? Or the next Bachelor? Since it didn’t work out with Hannah, I’m trying to pair him with someone else….me?
Connor S: jumped the [bleep] fence, as Chris Harrison would say. Honestly, Colton was probably roaring with laughter because Colton’s fence jump will always be superior. But nice try, Connor. Speaking of Connor…he looks like the guy that would leave a girl on read. Just saying.
But……I’m not done with Connor S, because I do love him. I definitely see him and Hannah’s chemistry, but I don’t think he’ll make it all the way. I see him making it to hometowns, or the week before hometowns. He’ll end up on Paradise for sure. TBH, I see him with someone like Hannah G or Katie!
Luke P: he looks like a Chad Johnson! There, I said it. And when he turns out to be a Chad 2.0 when he gets angry, bookmark this post so you can tell your friends “I told you so!” He did get the first impression rose (after beautiful Cam), but just like any college frat guy you met once, he’ll show his true colors. And would like to bring this attention that Rachel Lindsay, former Bachelorette, pointed out.
Cam: “ABC — Always Be Cam.” Always be you, my friend. I LOVE HIM. When the previews for this season are making him out to be a bad guy, I just want to sob. I’m calling it already — he’s going to win Hannah’s heart. AND he got the first impression rose. He certainly won my heart…and he has got James McCoy Taylor vibes goin’ for him. Something about him just screams quirky, weird, awkward, but cute, sexy, and downright Southern charming. Him and Hannah make a perfect match in my opinion. If he gets dumped (I’ll be shocked), he’ll most definitely end up on Paradise OR EVEN be the next Bachelor.
The Scott Fiasco
Hannah really set the stage. She KILLED it last night. When the huge Scott fiasco happened, she didn’t handle it with grace. She tore him to shreds for coming on the show for literally “the wrong reasons.” She wasn’t a pretty princess/beauty queen, she was a fierce woman (Khaleesi, I might add) who showed no mercy at the end. And she tried to give lyin’ and cheatin’ Scott a chance to explain himself, but when the liar refused to tell the truth, she threw him out. MY QUEEN. Roll Tide (or whatever).
And thankfully Demi and Katie (Hannah’s Angels) were there to save the day. Honestly, I think Demi was just scouting out Paradise material, but she was really there to protect her BFF. And I stan her for that. Demi queen of the north! And Katie is just so sweet and realistic. Hannah needs her friends, especially right about now.
The First Impression Rose
So Luke P. got the first impression rose. In the past, it’s always the first guy with the first impression rose who wins (Kaitlyn’s season, Shawn; JoJo’s season, Jordan; Rachel’s season, Bryan; Becca’s season, Garrett). BUT technically, Cam got the first impression rose so Cam is gonna win. Ignore Luke. Hehehehe. I see Luke ending up in Paradise with Demi honestly.
I didn’t think that Luke P made a suitable first impression. But we’re not there for every moment, so I trust my girl Hannah’s judgment. But dang…Luke P didn’t even give her his jacket?
Frankly, I think it should have gone to at least Connor S. But none of these guys really made a standout first impression! No wonder she chose Luke. He was the first one that went outside and comforted her after the Scott Fiasco. But still, he didn’t give her his jacket…
Final Thoughts, the Final Rose, and Best Tweets of the Night
I want to give my final notes that I took during the last moments of the rose ceremony…here they are:
- Plot twist, she gives the final rose to Chris. LOL. Wouldn’t this be a twist that the producers love?
- When I first saw Luke P. on After the Final Rose, he definitely caught my heart but when I heard those rumors and saw the previews, I became hesitant like does he have anger issues?? But like that’s what they said about Jordan Rodgers and he is still totally a stud and so sweet and still with JoJo.
- “My heart is literally exploding” is the most millennial thing that anyone on this show can say.
- “Before I met Hannah I knew there was going to be something strong between us” sounds a bit suspicious. But you didn’t know her? That’s like me saying there’s something strong between me and Tom Holland. I still think me and the third Spider-Man are meant to be together, but how can I really know there’s sparks between us if we’ve never met?
Well, ladies and boyfriends of said ladies, that was week one. We have 15 more to go! Hopefully you liked this recap and you read more next week! I will say, I am excited that Hannah keeps her faith while being the Bachelorette. She has a strong heart and faith with Jesus, and I really think that she’ll let that shine throughout the season — something that no other Bachelorette I’ve watched has done before. She can be awkward and quirky, which makes her relatable, but it’s her faith is what makes her the most relatable.
And with that, signing off.
